Participation of Dr. E. Kotou at the Aquaculture Europe 2021 Conference held between 4 and 7 October 2021 in Madeira, Portugal in order to present work with results from subsection 2.2 of the Project and entitled: “HEAT-TREATED SOYBEAN MEAL: EFFECTS ON DIETARY ISOFLAEON Sparus aurata JUVENILES GROWTH INDEXES, IMMUNE, ANTIOXIDANT, LIPOGENIC & DIGESTIVE SYSTEMS ”.

Conclusions

Replacement of FM with untreated SBM significantly affected the selected growth indexes and biomarkers responses. Further, heat treatment of SBM increased the content of genistein. Most of the growth indexes were affected but only FCR, fish total body length and digestibility of lipids & carbohydrates were statistically significantly influenced compared to untreated-SBM. Changes of lipogenic & digestive biomarkers responses were not significant after heat treatment, whereas the most immune and enzymatic antioxidant biomarkers were significantly altered after SBM heat treatment. Results obtained pointed out to take into consideration the possible consequences of SBM treatment and dietary isoflavone genistein on nutritional value of fish diet and S. aurata juveniles growth and health status.
